Creating or updating content types

This guideline is for folks who need to add a new content type or update and existing one.  Some examples of content types are:  Meeting, Action Item, Group Post, Decision.

To add a new content type, it is often easiest to clone an exisiting content type and then make the necessary changes to fields in that content type.  When you do this, you also need to check what each field is set to by default and make appropriate changes.

Here are some guidelines:

  1. (TO BE EDITED FURTHER) : When starting a new content type there are a bunch of not obvious check boxes that are important. The one necessary here is to check that it is part of the Wiki group. It also had post to front page set as a default - not normally a good idea. And I went into all the existing requirements and made them restricted to Web.
