End-to-End

LP Patch

The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference offers a certificate and an End-to-End "rocker" to anyone who hikes the entire length of the Long Path. Hikers have the option of using the traditional Orange County route or the more scenic Shawangunk Ridge route. The trip can be completed in one continuous trip or in a number of hikes over many years. As of March 2010, there are 111 Long Path End-to-Enders. The certificate is free to members of the Trail Conference, but there is a $5.00 handling charge for nonmembers.

Since the Long Path is continually expanding, the requirements for completing the trail are constantly changing. For details on current requirements, a tally sheet, or more information, contact The Long Path End-to-End Committee, c/o Ed Walsh, 11 Kwiecinski Street, West Haverstraw, NY 10993.

Post the List Please

I would like to see the list of End-to-Enders posted in this on-line section and updated annually as hikers finish the trail and provide documentation. I've enjoyed seeing who completed the trail, where they are from and when they completed the trail in the last hardcopy published (5th ed. Jan. 2005 printing). My brother & I are currently working on completeing the trail (2 years in to date, section hikers) and the list is an inspiration. We hope to be on the list too someday. I know it may sound a little self serving but I'm finding that anyone who has accomplished this had to put a lot of thought into planning, logistics and hiking the trail.

Finally, thanks to all of the trail maintainers. Without your hard work this trip would not have been possible.
