Information, Comments, Announcements, & Notes

1. All Committee members, please attend this meeting; or please call the Chairman (Ron Rosen: 845/454-4936 or 454-1721 (leave a message if not in) if you CANNOT attend.

Directions to New Hackensack Reformed Church: The Church is on NY State Route 376 approximately 6 miles north of our usual meeting location (the East Fishkill Public Library). The entrance is slightly south of the light where Route 376, New Hackensack Road, and All Angels Hill Road all converge, adjacent to the Dutchess County Airport. Once you have turned off of Route 376, go most of the way around the building and park near the entrance marked for the Church Office and Education Wing. Use that entrance, and the Room number will be posted on a board in the entry area. For most meeting rooms, go downstairs upon entering the building and turn left.

2. The NPS Lands office has received the new survey final maps from Hartmann. IF you need any of the new survey maps, please call or Email Ron Rosen AS SOON AS YOU READ THIS! Ron is placing a map order, by Friday of this week (January 9), and we hope to have the new maps for this meeting!

3. As most recipients of this notice are aware, long-time Nuclear Lake Caretaker Jim Robson died of a heart attack in December. There will be a number of issues that will need to be resolved concerning the facility and the caretaker’s position in the upcoming months. Patti Robson will continue living in the residence this spring and perhaps into the early summer as well.

4. Ron Rosen received a call from volunteer Jim Mullen, who has a friend who lives in Pawling. This friend saw a cougar near Hurds Corners Road. Jim was asking if we should caution hikers to be aware of the presence of these animals and the possibility of attacks, e.g., on young children or solo hikers. Please bring your thoughts to this meeting!
