Buddy System: Join a Corridor Maintainer repainting boundary blazes.
Enlarge Morgan Stewart well pad: Carry in and use wooden forms and concrete to make the pump run-off area larger.
Create road signage:To keep trails safe, we need assistance routing road crossing and shelter signs.
Complete puncheon: Area in need is between Old Rt. 55 and Whaley Lake Stream Bridge.
Build Water Bars: Place logs or rocks diagonally across a sloping trail to control water erosion.
Repaint AT blazes: Help mark trails for future hikers! Blazes are in need of repainting at Indian Pass, Depot Hill Road, and I84 to view south of Mt. Egbert Monument.
Corridor Monitors: Become a monitor for the Appalachian Trail. Travel an assigned portion of the AT boundary markers on the lookout for monuments and incursions. Time Commitment: 2-4 times per year.
Well-pump Sampler: Collect monthly water sample from the pumps at Wiley and Morgan Stewart Shelters.
Take the sample to Dutchess County Department of Health in Poughkeepsie.AT Maintainers and Shelter Caretakers: Maintain the trail or shelter to ensure that the hikers’ experience is excellent.
In the Bear Mt. Bridge area to Rt 301, projects include:
- Chainsaw swamper to help clear views
- 2 helpers to build a short flight of steps (near Chapman Rd)
- 2 helpers to move rocks into swampy area south of 3-Lakes Trail crossing
