The Catskills Roving Trail Maintenance Crew will be working to remove any downed limbs and trees from the trail, cleaning waterbars out and pruning back anything that is growing into the footpath on the trail to Thomas Cole. Please bring any loppers, pruners and a longer blade folding saw if you have one. No tools, no problem: we have plenty to supply you.
Be sure to bring plenty of water, at least a couple of quarts, and lunch and snacks. You'll want good hiking boots. No dogs due to safety concerns. Rain cancels.
Please contact the Crew Leader, Wendell George, by the evening of May 5 to to let him know if you plan to come. If you need to cancel, let Wendell know by 7:30 AM on Tuesday morning (May 6th).
Trail Crew volunteers do not need to be a member of the Trail Conference. No experience is necessary - we provide the tools and the training!
All volunteers will need to complete a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Volunteer Service Agreement Form if they have not already completed a form on previous work trips.
About the Catskills Roving Trail Maintenance Crew: The Roving Trail Maintenance Crew in the Catskills is dedicated to helping maintain our over 200 miles of adopted trail in the Catskill Mountain Region. Their work includes clearing back brush and weeds, removing blowdowns and helping to maintain previously built trail structures such as waterbars.
The Crew exists to support our individual volunteers who have adopted sections of trail throughout the region and support the maintenance efforts of our member clubs including the Catskill 3500 Club, the Rip Van Winkle Hikers, the Catskill Mountain Club and the Finger Lakes Trail Conference.
