Trail Crew: Long Path beyond the summit of Romer Mountain

Crew Name:
Long Path and Long Distance Trails Crew
Project date:
Monday, November 11, 2013 - 9:00am - 4:00pm
Project/Trail Location:
Romer Mountain & Mount Pleasant, Phoenicia, NY
Project Description:

The trail crew will be working on the new section of Long Path that begins near Phoenicia, continues over Romer Mountain, Mount Pleasant and Cross Mountain and then will connect with the Burroughs Range Trail.

Bring work gloves, water, lunch, and friends; we will provide the rest of the tools and training. Beginners are welcome.

We have cut a new section of trail from the Summit of Romer Mountain that starts to ascend Mount Pleasant. Work will include building stone steps, side hilling and other tread improvements.

We have found a much shorter route to access this section. We will not have to walk in 3 miles anymore.

It's best if you let the leader (Andy Garrison) know that you plan to attend. We will be meeting at the Lane Street Parking area to carpool to the access location.

Travel directions:
We will be parking at the parking area for the future trailhead.  The parking area is located at the end of Lane Street.  From the village of Phoenicia follow Bridge Street over the Esopus River.  After crossing the river, turn right on to High Street.  Follow High Street for approximately 0.5 miles. Lane Street will be on your left.  Turn on to Lane Street and follow it to the end.  The parking area's access road is to the right at the end of the road and the parking area is located just over a small stream crossing at the end of that short access road. We will carpool to the access point. If you need more detailed directions, please contact Andy, the trip leader. You can get directions using this link
