Trail Crew: Day Hikers Needed to Help Supply Our Week-Long Service Trip on Long Path in Catskills

Crew Name:
Long Path and Catskills Trails Crew
Project date:
Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 9:00am - Saturday, June 8, 2013 - 4:00pm
Project/Trail Location:
Cross Mountain, near Phoenicia, NY
Project Description:

Trail Crew on Romer MountainThe Catskills and Long Path Trail Crew is working on the new section of Long Path that begins near Phoenicia, continues over Romer Mountain, Mount Pleasant and Cross Mountain and then will connect with the Burroughs Range Trail.

As part of that work, the Crew will be spending a week, camping, on the mountains to work on the more remote sections of the new Long Path.

During this trip the crew will be working on the section that crosses Cross Mountain between Wittenburg and Mount Pleasant.

Additional volunteers are needed to support the Trail Crew on Cross Mountain throughout the week by hiking up with supplies for the camp, bringing up tools, and carrying out material that is no longer needed. Volunteer for a day or more.

We will be hiking in supplies to the basecamp on Saturday, June 1st, Tuesday, June 4th, Thursday, June 6th and Saturday, June 8th.  The leader for this work, Jeff Senterman, will contact you with details of when volunteers are needed to help support the crew and you can join us as you can to take part in this first of a kind backcountry trail crew for the Trail Conference.

No experience is necessary, you do not need to be a Trail Conference member and you do not need to be available for the entire week.  We will be leading day trips to the basecamp site multiple times and we need help on every trip.  This will be a 7-8 mile round trip hike that follows a strenuous trail and includes bushwhacking.  We will be bringing supplies to the basecamp and then carrying out any trash or unneeded tools.  If you are available any of the days, please sign up through the link below and we will work up a schedule for everyone.
