Barberry Defoliation Alert: Help Collect Data, Now!
A native caterpillar has been observed eating the new shoots of the invasive Japanese barberry in our region. While you hike, you can help Rutger’s scientist and TC Science Committee volunteer Joan Ehrenfeld collect data on how widespread this activity may be. West Hudson North Crew Needs Helping Hands Sept. 9
To complete the reconstruction of the Stillman Bridge in Storm King Park the crew needs extra hands to carry lumber to the site Saturday, Sept. 9, and, if you are interested, to continue to help with the project. For more information, contact Crew Chief Denise Vitale at WHNTrails@aol.com.
Pedal for Black Rock Forest
The Black Rock Forest Consortium, of which the Trail Conference is a member, will be one of the beneficiary organizations of The Green Ride, a 260-mile, NYC to Catskills and back, bicycle event, October 6-8. Join the cyclists who will be pedaling for $$ or support BRF Executive Director Bill Schuster’s ride with a pledge. Help the Trail Conference Protect New Jersey’s Open Space!

Trail Conference offices are in Mahwah, NJ, and we will be joining with our neighbors to celebrate the 13th Annual Mahwah Day, Saturday, September 15, 2007. All our trail crews are about to swing into action for the fall season. Check the crew calendar for the latest info on who, what, where, and when crews will be working, and come out for a day or a season of work and camaraderie in the woods.
Enroll Your Group in a Bear Mountain Work Day
Group work days are still available this fall for the Bear Mountain Trails Project. Build your team while building a trail and introduce your colleagues and friends to the Trail Conference.
