National Volunteers Week, is April 27-May 5, and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference would like to take this occasion to thank the 1,400 volunteers who give so freely of their time to maintain and manage trails, work on our maps and books, serve on the Board of Directors and committees, keep active with conservation and advocacy issues, and help at the office, for special events, and at outreach events. Future of NJ Parks Still Uncertain
Celebrate High Point State Park on May 10, during a day of hikes and activities. Join a hike from High Point to Trenton, May 14 – 23, visiting NJ’s threatened parks along the way. Minnewaska Fire and Trails Update
Some trails at Minnewaska State Park Preserve, including a section of the Long Path, remain closed as the result of a fire that burned 3100 acres, but the bulk of the park reopened on Tuesday, April 29. Click here to learn the extent of the closings and other trail news in our region.

Plant Hunters Wanted
Volunteer citizen-scientists will collect field data about invasive plants in our region’s parks. Training is offered. Learn more.
