Blaze and Hike a part of the Highlands Trail
Posted December 31st, 2014 by Sona Mason
Saturday, February 21, 2015 - 10:00am - 2:00pm
Join us for a reroute and reblazing hike of the Highlands Trail, where we will be removing 5 miles of the HT from roads, and onto recently preserved land. Jenifer Garofalini will describe the land preservation work of O.S.I., and Glen Oleksak, Highlands Trail Chair, will discuss the process of trail rerouting and layout as he places Highlands Trail blazes along the new route.
Find out the exciting future plans we have for trails in this part of the world, and become a part of it!
Dress for the weather, bring lunch and water or a hot beverage. Please note this will be bushwhacking through mostly virgin territory, across and down slopes, so a level of fitness, sense of balance and familiarity with hiking on rough terrain will be helpful, as will hiking poles. There will also be a wet stream crossing and wet ground in parts.
