Be Part of History in the Catskills: Help Build a New Trail

Thursday, April 28, 2016 - 10:00am - Sunday, May 1, 2016 - 4:00pm

Enjoy an afternoon in the Catskills: Help build a trail at the Catskill Interpretive Center!

We're building a new trail at the Catskill Interpretive Center, and we need your help! No trail-building experience is necessary, and all skill levels are invited to participate. We'll teach you everything you need to know. Come for an hour or stay for the day and help build the new trail that will ultimately lead to the summit of Mt. Tobias.

Who: Everyone who loves trails!

Where: Catskill Interpretive Center, 5096 Route 28, Mt. Tremper, NY 12457. Call Catskills Program Coordinator Doug Senterman at 518.497.5319 for details about joining the event.

When: Thursday, April 28, through Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Why: The long-awaited Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center (CIC) finally opened its doors last July. Decades in the making, the CIC was created to be a destination for all things Catskills.

“For too long the Catskill State Park was one of the only major state or national parks in the country without an Interpretive Center. I was determined to change that. It’s critically important to have a place where residents and visitors can learn about our unique natural, historical, and cultural resources. It will help preserve our rich heritage, keep our local economies strong, and our quality of life intact.”

— Hon. Rep. Maurice D. Hinchey, US Rep. 1993 – 2013

We're building trails on the site to help make it a true Catskills experience. Help make history--join us in building a new trail!

Contact: Catskills Program Coordinator Doug Senterman can provide details on each day. He can be reached at 518.497.5319.
