Introduction to Hiking and the Wappingers Greenway Trail, A Hidden Treasure

This evening presentation will introduce the Joys of Hiking and give tips on how to get started on this healthy, convenient, and family-friendly activity. Long-time hiker Georgette Weir, a staff member with the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and member of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, will give a brief slide show about hiking. This will be followed by a showing of a locally-produced video, The Wappinger Greenway Trail: A Hidden Treasure. The video was commissioned by the Wappinger Greenway Committee.

On Saturday, May 12, Georgette will lead a 4-mile round-trip hike on the Wappingers Creek Trail. This portion of the Greenway trail, which extends from the Market Street Industrial Complex to New Hamburg, was built by professionals and volunteers of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. It is maintained by the Wappingers Greenway Committee.
