American Hiking Society's National Trails Day® is the country's largest celebration of trails.  Visit http://www.americanhiking.org/ntd/ to see events happening around the country.

Below are the activities we have scheduled in our region. All are open to the public. Click on each activity to get details.

 

SPECIAL EVENT

Kaaterskill Rail Trail blaze logoKaaterskill Rail Trail Opening
New trail offers multiple views of the famous Kaaterskill Falls.

We're joining with our partners to celebrate completion of the first phase of the Kaaterskill Rail Trail. A large portion of the trail is along the edge of beautiful and popular Kaaterskill Clove, offering multiple views of Kaaterskill Falls. Please pre-register for scheduled guided hikes.

TRAIL OUTINGS

Litter Clean-up at Bear Mountain. Learn how good it feels to see the difference you can make in a few hours of volunteering in the great outdoors. Co-sponsored by REI and Whole Foods.

Invasive Species Removal.  Help to protect our native natural environment by removing invasive shrubs near the trails on Bear Mountain. Co-sponsored by REI and Whole Foods.

Trail Construction: Build new trail and learn about tread and drainage control at the same time. On the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain. Co-sponsored by REI and Whole Foods..

Trail Reclamation: Learn and use techniques for addressing tread and drainage issues on a real trail at Bear Mountain. Co-sponsored by REI and Whole Foods.

Trail Worker-Guided Hike: You'll see trails in a new way after this guided hike at Bear Mountain. Co-sponsored by REI and Whole Foods.

West Jersey Crew on the Appalachian Trail or in Worthington State Forest. We'll work where we're most needed.

Backcountry Service Week in the Catskills Starts on June 1. Stay the week or help on day trips.

Help control erosion on a section of the Appalachian Trail in Dutchess-Putnam, NY.

Learn about Trail Structures. Our campus will be trails at Teatown Lake Reservation.
