Reservoir Trail Interpretive Hike and Blazing Day

Saturday, September 27, 2014 - 10:00am - 2:00pm
To help celebrate National Public Lands Day, come join us in officiating the new Reservoir Loop Trail in Ramapo Valley County Reservation, a short hike from the parking lot and practically in the backyard of our new Darlington Schoolhouse headquarters.     This trail around the gorgeous MacMillan Reservoir was done completely with volunteer labor, mostly facilitated as Trail University workshops, and will continue to be an ongoing project throughout the coming years.   Come take an interpretive group hike and find out how this popular area of eroded, compacted and threaded social trails was turned into into one cohesive, defined path. We'll take lunch break right by a beautiful water view and afterwards, for anyone willing, we'll provide metal tag blazes. Then we will split into groups and hang the blazes along the entirety of the trail, designating it as an official path within the park open for public use.   We'll meet at 10am at the picnic table under the kiosk between the parking lot and the restrooms. If you're staying to help blaze the trail, expect to be finished around 2pm. Please come prepared with sturdy boots, a lunch, and plenty of water. If you plan on helping to hang blazes, please bring your own hammer, gloves and safety glasses. We'll provide the blaze tags and nails.   Confirm your attendance by emailing Peter Dolan at [email protected]. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email t that address or call (201) 512-9348 x25. Hope to see you there!
