Thursday, June 15, State House, Trenton
Join NJ environmental organizations for some hooting and hollering,
sign carrying, legislator meetings, and gallery packing to let
Trenton
know that there are people in the state who care about the
environment, they vote, and they know how to get to Trenton.
Anyone who cares about the NJ environment...members, volunteers,
and
staff of environmental groups, kids, toddlers, grandparents, the
quiet
and the loud - all are welcome.
The theme is STOP SPRAWL, the unplanned overdevelopment on open
space, on the coast, on farms, and in the hills. Feel free to bring
your own petitions, handouts, and issues.
Lobbyists for developers, road builders, concrete and blacktop
pourers are in the State House everyday. Let's make June 15 a GREEN
DAY. Let's change the state's slogan from "NJ is open for
business" to
" NJ is open for a healthy environment."
The Assembly Appropriations Committee Room (4th floor of the
Statehouse Annex right across from the elevators, West State St,
Trenton) is our staging area with someone with plans and directions
all day. Report there when you arrive.
Events and meetings are being scheduled 9:30-2; we'd like as many
people as possible there for the whole time. We will be holding a
press conference at noon so if you can only come for an hour or
two,
plan on 11-1, when we need numbers to raise a ruckus.
Please let us know by phone 732-291-0055 if you plan to attend, so
we
have an idea of numbers; if you want a meeting with a legislator we
will try to arrange it.
WEAR SOMETHING GREEN.
