This is truly an occasion to celebrate with 95 percent of Sterling Forest protected as public open space. The public is welcome to join us for hiking in the morning and barbecue in the afternoon. Sterling Forest hikes of various lengths and difficulty start from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. from the Lakeside Firehouse located on West Mombasha Road 4 miles south of the Village of Monroe. Hiking fee $10.00.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the afternoon come back to the firehouse for a barbecue dinner ($10.00), music and celebration.
