On Saturday, October 20 at 7:30 pm Tenafly Nature
Center and North
Jersey Group of the Sierra Club will present, in concert, Walkin' Jim
Stoltz, performing "Forever Wild", a multi-media celebration
of
wilderness. It's a one-of-a-kind program, combining Jim's original,
folk-style music (written on his long, backcountry treks across
America)
with slides from dual projectors. The concert will be held at the
Presbyterian Church of Tenafly at 55 Magnolia Road and we felt that
you
might be interested in this event.
Walkin' Jim has been performing his unique wilderness music for over
25
years, but in the mid-80's began combining the songs with his
photography. The resulting concert is a powerful program sharing the
magic and inspiration of the wilderness. Having walked through more
than
25,000 miles of America's wild country, Walkin' Jim's music conveys a
great love and respect for the Earth and her creatures. His songs have
been recorded on eight releases, which receive regular airplay on
National Public Radio. The show was given an Outstanding Achievement
Award by the Environmental Protection Agency for sharing the nature
and
wilderness with others.
Here's what others have said about his music:
".sings in a deep bass that sounds like a distant rapid in a
canyon
stream. His songs are paeans to nature."
The Wall Street Journal
"Great stories, good songs.a very entertaining evening."
Variety
I first worked with Jim when I worked for the National Wildlife
Federation. At that time he performed his inspiring and unique
concerts
for NWF in California and Montana. Later I helped bring him to
Pennsylvania for the local chapter of the Sierra Club. All of
the
concerts were greatly enjoyed.
If you could help get the word about this event to those who might be
interested, we would really appreciate it. For ticket
