Social hour will begin at 6pm with business meeting and guest speaker Jim Johnson to follow starting at 7pm. Ross Dock

Hiking trails in our region cover the same ground as did American and British armies during the Revolutionary war. Get a historical perspective on the Hudson Valley’s landscape from Colonel James M. Johnson, U.S. Army, Retired, Ph.D, when he speaks to our annual June meeting.

As the center of the colonies at the time of the American Revolution, the Hudson River Valley hosted many key figures, battles, and political events throughout the eight years of war. The Sons of Liberty, the leaders of the Revolution, were as active in New York as they were inMassachusetts; they printed broadsides, encouraged boycotts, rallied, rioted, and dumped British tea into the New York Harbor even as Patriot housewives throughout the Valley threw their own “tea parties” at the expense of merchants and Loyalist neighbors, who supported King George III. The social fabric was ripped apart in the civil war between the Loyalists and Whigs, now called the Patriots. Come and learn about the importance of the Hudson Valley in the fight for liberty.
