The State Legislature's environment committees will hold a joint hearing on Thursday, April 22, to discuss the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act. This will likely be the last hearing before a likely vote on the bill in May.

This Act is essential for preserving the Highlands - protecting our drinking water, pristine habitats and our economy. Please, make plans to attend this hearing and join in our effort to protect the Highlands.

Opponents of this Act, led by developers associations, are mobilizing their resources for a big fight to leave the Highlands vulnerable to over-development and sprawl. We must act now to make sure the Highlands are protected - for today's generation and tomorrow's.

The region is under threat from population growth, deforestation and sprawl. The Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act will:
