Save the Lakes in Rosendale invites the public to a presentation:
Alternatives to Canopy: A Park, Land Preservation and a Strong Local Economy: Having It All
7 pm at the Rosendale Community Center, Route 32
Speakers will discuss ways various communities in New York have preserved environmentally sensitive land, provided public access and maintained a solid tax base for the local town.
Speakers:
Margery Groten, Scenic Hudson
Scenic Hudson has collaborated with local communities, New York State and private developers to protect land and access to the river. Margery will speak about the various benefits and challenges of these different collaborations.
Janet Kern, Save the Ridge
Janet will speak about the successful effort of Save the Ridge to preserve 2500 acres of land in Gardiner for public use as well as the ramifications of that outcome.
DEC Director Janeway to Speak May 1 at Rosendale Planning Board Meeting
DEC Region 3 Director Willie Janeway is scheduled to speak at the May 1 meeting of the Town of Rosendale Planning Board. Save the Lakes expects he may announce a decision regarding lead agency status for reviewing the proposal for a private resort development at Williams Lake. The meeting is set to take place at 7:30 at the Rosendale Recreation Center on Route 32. The public is encouraged to attend.
