Ramapo Development Endangers Trail Link

Letters to Editors Needed Now!
Attend February 19, 2008 Planning Board Meeting

OnTuesday, February 19 (rescheduled from Feb. 12), the Town of Ramapo Planning Board is set to announce a decision on the Pierson Lakes--now known as Byron Hill-- development proposal that would affect four major parks in two states.

Public comments on this issue will not be accepted at the meeting but public interest expressed through attendance is encouraged. So are letters to editors which can help to raise public awareness of the potential impacts of this development.

The Pierson Lakes/Byron Hill proposal would put houses at the intersection of Sterling Forest, Harriman, and Ringwood State Parks, and Ramapo Valley County Reservation. It would fragment a green route that links open space in New York and New Jersey and obliterate the possibility of a trail link that was promised by planners in 1989.

Please attend if you can. The meeting will be at Town Hall, 237 Route 59, Suffern, NY starting at 7pm.
