Issues by Topic
All issues have a history. Some of them have been around since the
beginning of time. Others arise suddenly and are solved quickly. Mostly
they just drag on from year to year or die out for a while and then
arise again from the ashes. The following is an attempt to make some
sense of this history.

Public Comment Opportunities
If you want more open space, more hiking opportunities, a better environment,
etc., watch for opportunities to make public comments on pending legislation
or administrative rulings. Take action and comment.
Upcoming Votes
Both State and National legislatures frequently have pending bills
that affect either the environment or hiking opportunities. You can
make a difference if you contact your representatives in a timely fashion.
Maintaining a list of these is well beyond any single person watching
for important bills. If people send
material on issues they think are important, they may get included
here. All issues mentioned here are here because some Trail Conference
member was interested enough to send material. The Date of Vote is
usually only a projection of best guesses. You should call your representatives
before that date.
