There are many candidates for public office where the races are
very close. Your vote in the November 7th election will make a
difference.
There are propositions on a number of ballots at the town and
county level funding Open Space Initiatives. At the last Trail
Conference board meeting the Board issued the following
statement:
The Trail Conference strongly supports voting FOR the various Open
Space Initiatives on the ballots. A vote for open space is a vote for
more hiking opportunities.
As a 501 (3) (c) organization, the Trail Conference urges you to vote and
attempts to supply educational information about issues of concern to
our membership.
Come back here often - new information is coming in slowly.

If you know of any more contact Walt
Daniels. Please send copies of any articles, either before or
after the election, to the office. There will be an article in the
next Trail Walker.

It has been said that all hikers are environmentalists but not all
environmentalists are hikers - useful information if you are trading
mailing lists. However when it comes to voting, the battle lines are
less clear. We all have different priorities. Here are some links that
give some information about likely environmental positions of office
seekers.
