Attempt to add an arbitrary comment

1) So I noted the <Add new comment> field and clicked on it, bringing me to this point where I am adding this nonsense comment. For me, the presence of all the MS Word (or Notepad?)  icons and capabilities seems totally unnecessary in the context of this type of data collection (Trail Maintenance) effort. My guess is that it is  provided because that is the simplest way to implement the capability. None of it will ever be used. 2) How do you quickly get back to the "top" of the application, that is to www.nynjtc.org/view/super without explicitly entering that URL again? 3) It is not obvious (to me) what to do next? Click on <Preview> ? 4) The various triangle toggles for Input Format, other things are confusing.
