Delegates Meeting @ Fort Lee Historic Park, NJ, June 10, 1999 7pm (social hour @6)

The Voice of Hiking and Outdoor Clubs Can make a BIG Difference

Find out how we can build partnerships to help save our hiking lands. The Highlands of NJ and NY are lands of national significance. It is critical to form funding partnerships between federal, state and private sources. On the federal level, Land and Water Conservation Funds - State Side and Forest Legacy, are two potential vehicles for federal support under consideration by Congress.

Our special guests are:

Susan Holmes, Sierra Club North-East Regional Staff and
Jeff Tittel, NJ Chapter Sierra Club Executive Director

They will talk about Sierra Club's partnership projects with the Trail Conference and about Sierra's compaign to protect the Highlands. Hear about some inovative ways that the Trail Conference and member clubs can team up for success.

Tom Gilbert, Advocate for Land and Water Conservation Funds for Americans for Our Heritage and Recreation (AHR) and the Appalachian Mountain Club:

Tom will summarize the status of Congressional bills to upgrade funding that can benefit our region & offer concrete action steps that we can all take to further its success.
