Update of 12/19/96.
Hooray!!! The Open Space Institute and Nature Conservancy completed their purchase of Ice Caves Mtn. Inc. (leasor of the Ellenville tract). Many of the now un-maintained and closed-to-the-public hiking trails (see Shawangunk Trails, Map 9) will be re-opened by volunteers of the NY-NJ Trail Conference. An opening ceremony is planned for the first weekend in June 1997 (National Trails Day). Members interested in helping should send an e-mail to info@nynjtc.org.
