The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is seeking applications for its Executive Director. This individual will be committed to preserving and developing hiking opportunities through advocacy and partnerships.
NYNJTC, a federation of member clubs and individuals, is dedicated to providing recreational hiking opportunities in the metro NY-NJ region. Located in mid-Manhattan, NYNJTC is a volunteer-directed not-for-profit public service organization that represents the interests and concerns of the hiking community. It is committed to developing, building, and maintaining hiking trails, protecting hiking trail lands through support and advocacy, and educating the public in the responsible use of trails and the natural environment.
The successful candidate will serve as a spokesperson for the hiking community and act as a liaison in promoting broad partnerships with government agencies and environmental organizations. He or she will work with the board of directors to provide vision to the organization and encourage a high profile within the environmental community. The executive director will supervise a modest-sized staff and consultants, and cultivate and strengthen the volunteer base. Other responsibilities include overseeing fiscal operations, grants, publications, and land preservation activities.
