National Public Lands Day

Sterling Forest State Park - Hands on the Public Lands

On Saturday, September 26 , thousands of Americans--individuals, families, and organizations--will gather with shovels, hammers, and paintbrushes to help improve our country’s public lands. Sterling Forest State Park and Sterling Forest Partnership are sponsoring a work day to help get our new state park ready for the public. You can help by cleaning up a fishing area, clearing brush from the roadway to the fire tower, trimming saplings from the butterfly meadow, changing the boundary signs or helping on one of many other work teams. Come to the Sterling Forest State Park information center at the intersection of Routes 17 and 17A, 3 miles north of Tuxedo, NY, at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and a welcome and sign up for a work team. Bring gloves, lunch and beverage, insect repellent and brush loppers. For more information call the park office 914-351-5907.
