Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

Orange County - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC), as lead agencies, have accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Adoption and Implementation of a Master Plan for Sterling Forest State Park. The action involves adoption and implementation of a Master Plan for Sterling Forest State Park. The plan includes proposals for resource protection and for recreation use including a visitor center, cabins, boat access areas and an assessment of areas for camping. The plan also provides for hiking, biking, equestrian, cross country skiing, and interpretive trails. The plan recommends designation of a large portion of the park as a Park Preservation Area and as a NYS Bird Conservation Area. The FEIS describes potential environmental impacts and mitigation of those impacts. The project is located Sterling Forest State Park is located in the Towns of Monroe, Tuxedo and Warwick, Orange County.
