Computer Virus Problems

Please do not put Trail Conference email addresses, e.g. someone@nynjtc.org, in your address book if you use Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express on an PC. Some of you have done so and are not running uptodate antivirus software and/or have not applied all the Microsoft critical updates. In the last 3 days I have had to delete over 4000 virus infected emails from info@nynjtc.org. Other email addresses are much less badly affected fortunately. I would much rather be hiking.

See the resources below for technical details, instructions on how to test if your machine is infected, and how to remove the virus if you are infected.

If you think you might be infected, run this free online virus checker NOW. housecall.trendmicro.com/ or www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

PS: If you look at the prices for antivirus software, one interpretation is that this is a tax on all PC users that is being paid to various companies, in lieu of the government taking serious action to prevent spam and viruses.
