Trail Running Event

Attention Hikers!

Trail Running Event on Saturday, April 12, at Bear Mountain-Harriman State Parks

The Trail Conference has been informed by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission that endurance athletes from around the country will be gathering at Bear Mountain on Saturday, April 12 for trail running competitions as part of the North Face Endurance Challenge at Bear Mountain.  Trails and parking areas in the park will be busy, particularly in the area of the Bear Mountain Inn.  The event will include four races, from 10k to 50 miles in length, and runners will be using most of the trails in the parks. The Appalachian Trail will NOT be part of the event; competitive events on the AT are prohibited throughout its length.

This may be a good day to explore trails in parks and open spaces elsewhere in our region. We urge hike leaders who may have already planned outings in the park on April 12 to reschedule their hike or move it to another destination to avoid potential disappointment or aggravation.

For more information on the event see www.thenorthface.com/endurancechallenge/races/2008/bmn_overview.html

There are also opportunities to volunteer to help run the event. From Aid Station Captains to Festival 'workers to clean up crews.  This is an awesome event to be associated with and will be loads of fun. For more information contact Joshua Gold at 914-310-6069 or email : Josh@pushhard.com
