Minnewaska fire area now open

The fire area will officially be open effective today Wednesday October 15, 2008. This includes the Jenny Lane path, Stony Kill area including Stony Kill Carriageway, and Smiley Carriageway. The Jenny Lane path had snags removed, and blazes reestablished. The risk of the spread ofinvasives is low at this time of year. Bow season for deer hunting opens on Saturday and a large portion of the burn area is within the Minnewaska hunting area. I thank everyone for their patience, and understanding of the importance of keeping this areaclosed since the fire to insure safety and minimize the risk of invasives.
