CHESTER — Trail advocates say a housing development proposed for the Town of Chester will mar the view from Goosepond Mountain and Appalachian Trail.

Larry Wheelock of the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference brought maps to show how the houses will look from Goosepond. “The goal of the Appalachian Trail and the Conference is to provide the public with an experience of the wild as it exists in nature,” Wheelock told the board.

Serotta assured Wheelock that the board would meet with him. And he promised to provide a route for hikers, who must now walk LaRoe Road along a section of the trail.
