Title

Englewood Cliffs corporate tower plan under fire

Body

A two-pronged effort is being waged on both sides of the Hudson River to stop plans for a corporate office tower in Englewood Cliffs that opponents say would undermine a century of Palisades preservation — one of the most enduring legacies of the Rockefeller family and others....

Scenic Hudson, the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, which helped create the Palisades Interstate Park Commission to oversee the preservation of the cliffs, accuse the borough of spot zoning and violating the public trust, according to the suit...

Margo Moss, a 40-year Englewood Cliffs resident who is one of two individual plaintiffs named in the zoning suit, said the LG expansion would cause another environmental problem — traffic congestion. The other plaintiff, Jakob Franke, an activist with the Trail Conference who lives in Northvale, said the LG tower would “be the destruction of the Palisades.”
