|Trails Overview:|| |
A 1.8-mile section of the co-aligned Shawangunk Ridge Trail and the Long Path passes through Shawangunk Ridge State Forest. To the south the trail continues on into Roosa Gap State Forest. To the north the trail continues onto private land and eventually onto Minnewaska State Park to the north of Route 52.
Old Mountain Road (1.8 miles) extends from NYS Route 52 in the west to Mountain Road in the east—connecting to both the Long Path and the Old Plank Road Trail (1 mile). Woods roads are also open to mountain biking, cross-county skiing and horseback riding.
Cox Road Parking Area: Take N.Y. Route 17 west to Exit 115. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto Roosa Gap Road and continue for 5.0 miles. When you reach an intersection where Frey Road begins to the right, bear left to continue on Pleasant Valley Road, and cross a bridge. In another 0.2 mile, turn left onto Cox Road, and follow it for 1.6 miles to a parking area on the left for the Shawangunk Ridge State Forest.
