STERLING FOREST FALL HIKE-A-THON, Fourth Annual

Saturday, October 10, 1998

Take a HIKE and Raise Funds for Sterling Forest. This is a great chance to get out and enjoy a fall hike in Sterling Forest as the autumn colors brighten the hills with their red and golden tones. The Sterling Forest Partnership is a not-for-profit organization that promotes responsible stewardship for the preservation of Sterling Forest as a wild habitat preserve, and encourages the protection of the natural landscape of the Highlands through education, research and public involvement.

HIKES

Depending on your enthusiasm and fitness level you can select from hikes varying from a short, moderate 3 mile hike up to more strenuous 8 or 9 mile hikes. All hikes will be led by qualified hike leaders.

FUND RAISING

Our Hike-a-thon is to raise money for the continuation of education and research programs in Sterling Forest and to continue the fight to protect the remaining 2,000-plus acres of the Forest still owned by the Sterling Forest Corporation. This developer has proposed a major development which backs right up to the new state park boundary.

Before coming to the event, your challenge is to get as many sponsors as possible to pledge or donate, in advance, money based on your participation in the Hike-a-thon. They can contribute on a per-mile-that-you-hike basis or a simple donation. Please list all pledges and donations received on the sponsor pledge sheet on the reverse side. Bring your pledge sheet and money with you come to hike.
