Birds

Four ducks, probably female and three young (only three shown). Seen 8/31/03 on Halsey Pond in Irvington. They don't match any my bird books but look closest to a Mallard/Black cross as show in Sibley. The unusual feature not represented by any ducks is the black bill. There is some variation in the three ducks show with only two showing the white (mallard like) tail,one tending toward an orange bill and less distinct black head cap.
