Celebrate the Final Clean-up of a 150-Acre
Trails Connection Project in the Shawangunks!

Schedule (Rain or Shine)

9:00am-12:00pm: Final clean-up with Trail Conference and volunteers

12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch for volunteers and guests

1:00pm-2:00pm: Press conference, displays, etc.

2:00pm-4:00pm: Local hikes and tours of property

• 150-acres, formerly the site of LaFarge/North Dakota Cement and two former rail lines: the New York, Ontario, and Western (O&W) Railway and the Port Jervis, Monticello, and Summitville Railroad
• Connections to the Delaware & Hudson Canal towpath to the north and west
• Corridor extends more than 3 miles through woods and into Wurtsboro S.F.
• Site purchased by the NY-NJ Trail Conference in 2005 with the assistance of the Open Space Institute and will be turned over to NYS DEC
• The trail will form a western branch of the 36-mile Shawangunk Ridge Trail, a hiking trail that follows the ridge from High Point State Park in New Jersey to the Mohonk Preserve in Ulster County.
• The rail-trail corridor will provide the possibility of a link from the Shawangunk Ridge Trail to the D&H Canal Trail and adjacent communities.

The public is welcome to join any and all of the day’s events.
