Managing Visitor Use Workshop April 5-6, 2006The Hudson River Valley Greenway will be hosting a two-day workshop April 5th and 6th, 2006 called “Managing Visitor Use in the Hudson River Valley.” As more people choose to live, work and play here in the Hudson Valley region, we are challenged with balancing the needs and demands of the public with the management of our important natural esources. This workshop offers examples of visitor use and associated impacts to natural resources and visitor experiences and demonstrates applications to help managers address the people side of resource management. The free workshop is offered through NOAA Coastal Services and is open to anyone involved in managing or maintaining trails, parks, reserves, water trails, open spaces and other public resources – including heritage sites – with a natural resource component in the Hudson River Valley region. It will be held at the new Conservation Center at Sam’s Point Preserve, Shawangunk Mountains, Ulster County and will include field activities to look at the real life issues and monitoring methods of trail impacts at the Preserve. To sign up for this exciting opportunity or to request additional information, please contact Jessica DesLauriers, Greenway Trails Coordinator, at 518-473-3835 or by email at jessica.noel.deslauriers@hudsongreenway.state.ny.us.
