Science Volunteer OpportunitiesTracking the Wild Invasives
The Trail Conference and Rutgers University are looking for 45 hikers who are interested in helping to identify common invasive species in state park lands and track the occurences using GPS units. In return, these volunteers will be offered extensive training in plant identification and the proper use and care of GPS device. Appalachain Trail Natural Heritage Monitoring ProgramEvery summer and fall, NY-NJ Trail Conference volunteers head out to selected sites along the AT to monitor rare, threatened or engangered plant species. Similar to trail maintainers, AT natural heritage montors visit sites assigned to them at least twice per year. We are seeking new volunteers to participate in this project.
