 The piece of
the 3 Lakes Trail in Fahnestock from the Catfish Loop to the Catfish
Loop is closed because there is a Bobcat denning area near that part
of the trail (marked with x's on the map at the left.) We hope that
this closure is temporary but if the Bobcats do well and continue to
occupy the den it might be very long term. Please do not trespass in the
closed area.
There is another Bobcat den in Fahnestock near the AT north of Sunk
Mine Road. The trees on the right side of the trail are marked to show
the boundaries of the closed area. It does not affect the AT.
While you are marking this on your map, you might want to correct
the location of the viewpoint on the Catfish Loop. It is not at the
sharp turn near the horse trail, rather it is closer to the now closed
part of the 3 Lakes Trail as shown. No one should be confused by the
star at the wrong location as it is down in a hollow.
