Vroman's Nose and Long Path
This short hike with great views is the most popular hike in Schoharie County. Maps are available at Wally VanHouten's, on NYS Route 30, about 1.5 miles south of the NYS Route 30 and NYS Route 145 intersection at the West edge of Middleburgh. There is a Vroman's Nose information sign along Route 30. The parking area for the hike is on the West Middleburgh Road 0.7 miles from Route 30. From the parking lot follow the well used green trail, on a woods road, for about 0.6 miles to the top of the cliffs. Before the cliffs, there is an aqua trail that joins from the the right. This is the Long Path which presently extends from the George Washington Bridge to the Saratoga County line. At the top of the cliffs there is a spectacular view of the Schoharie Valley. The green-aqua trail follows the top of the cliffs for about 0.3 mile with additional views of the Valley and the Village of Middleburgh. When the trail starts down, turn around and retrace the route to the parking lot.
Long Path Guide (5th Edition)-pages 181 & 182 describes a portion of the hike.
