| There are a lot of unique features near or along trails
that are not easy to find, e.g. they may be a ways off the trail with
no marked or unmarked trail to them. Many people have consumer grade
GPSs, such as Garmin's and Magellan's which are capable of getting you
within 20 meters and most times closer of a given spot if you know
the coordinates.
Some of these points, marked with a * in the Latitude field, will
be identified to within 5 meters with the Trail Conferences'
differential GPS unit. If you would like to volunteer to help plot the
trails in the NY/NJ area with our GPS, click
here.
The following tables will list those interesting
places.

of interesting places welcome. Please include the Latitude, Longitude

Geocaching is a new treasure hunting game. Armed with a Global
Positioning System (GPS) device and coordinates, you can locate
treasures that others have stashed in unusual places. Here you can
find the latest stashes in your area, how to hide your own stash, and
information on how to get started in this fun and exciting hobby.
There are several in the NY/NJ area.
Another GPS game is to attempt to get to "confluence"
points, where your GPS reads mostly zeros. The goal of the project is
to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree
intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location.
