Note: Overnight parking may not be permitted at many of these parking areas

Public Transportation

The Main-Bergen Line of Metro-North offers service from Hoboken, NJ to both Otisville and Campbell Hall.
NJ Transit offers bus service from Port Authority to the Village of Greenwood Lake via bus lines 196 and 197. Get off at the Greenwood Lake Park and Ride. To reach the Village Vista Trail follow Windermere Avenue (NY 210) north two blocks, turn left onto Elm Street, and follow to Lion’s Field.
Short Line offers service from Port Authority to Wurtsboro. The bus stops on the trail at the Wurtsboro Village Market on 129 Sullivan Street.

Bellvale Mountain parking area:

From the Thruway, exit onto NY-17 (exit 16)
Take NY-17 west to NY-32
Follow NY-32 south
NY-32 becomes NY-17
Exit onto NY-17A and turn right (heading west)
After passing through Greenwood Lake, NY-17A heads back up the ridge
~ 2 miles past the village, look for the parking area at the top of the ridge

Village Vista Trailhead (0.9mi from AT in Greenwood Lake):

From the Thruway, exit onto NY-17 W (exit 16)
Take NY-17 west to NY 32
NY 32 becomes NY 17
Exit onto NY-17A and turn right (heading west)
Turn left onto NY-210
Turn right onto Elm St.
Look for Lion’s Field
Trail starts beyond the playground and pavilion

Wawayanda Park HQ: (not on AT; phone #: 973-853-4462)

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 W (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 4E
Merge onto NY-17 E
Take exit 124 and turn left onto NY-17A
Continue straight along NY-94
Turn left onto CR-21
Cross into NJ
Look for Park HQ 4 miles after turning onto CR-21
No fee for front parking area, but inform staff if staying overnight

Liberty Loop parking area: (Wallkill River NWR)

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 3W
Merge onto US-6 W / NY-17M toward Middletown
Turn left onto US-6
Turn left onto NY-284
Oil City road is a short distance past the NJ border, on your left
Follow Oil City road to the parking area (cross back into NY)

Parking area on NJ-284, near Unionville, NY:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 3W
Merge onto US-6 W / NY-17M toward Middletown
Turn left onto US-6
Turn left onto NY-284
Cross NJ border, road becomes NJ-284
Look for parking pullout on west side of road, near trailhead

High Point State Park:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 1 (US-6 W)
Turn left onto US-6
Turn left onto CR-15
Cross into NJ; CR-15 becomes NJ-23
Enter High Point State Park
Follow Park roads to High Point Monument
Note: Entrance fee of $5 (weekday) or $10 (weekend) to enter park

Directions to the Greenville Turnpike parking:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 1 (US-6 W)
Turn left onto US-6
Turn left onto CR-15
Before crossing into NJ, turn left onto Greenville Turnpike
Limited parking available approximately 1/5 mile past the point where Greenville Turnpike turns away from I-84, on the left
Trail ~0.5mi uphill from parking area

Lake Shore Drive cul-de-sac:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 2
Turn left onto CR-35
Turn right onto US-6
Turn right onto Hawthorn Blvd
Continue straight on Lake Shore Drive
Road ends in a cul-de-sac with limited parking

Guymard Turnpike parking:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 2
Turn right onto CR-35
Turn left onto Guymard Tpke at intersection (CR-24 leaves to the right)
Limited parking along guardrail before bridge

Metro-North parking at Otisville, NY:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 3W
Merge onto NY-17M toward Middletown
Turn left onto NY-211
Turn left onto Kelly Hill Road
Parking free on weekends

Basha Kill WMA:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 4W
Follow NY-17 W to exit 113
Turn left onto NY-209
Turn left onto Haven Road (cross Basha Kill)
Parking areas to left and right along South Rd.

Wurtsboro, NY:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 4W
Follow NY-17 W to exit 113
Turn right onto NY-209
Turn right onto CR-171 (trail runs along this road)
Park in town or at Old Wurtsboro O&W train station

Bullville, NY:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 4W
Follow NY-17 W to exit 119
Turn right onto NY-302
Bullville at junction of NY-302 and NY-17K
Look for parking in town

Highland Lakes State Park:

From the Thruway, exit onto I-84 (exit 17)
Take I-84 west to exit 4W
Follow NY-17 W to exit 120E
Turn right onto NY-211
Turn left onto CR-63
Cross CR-101 and follow CR-47
Turn right onto Tamms Rd.
Parking area on the right

Metro-North parking lot (Campbell Hall platform)

From the Thruway, take exit 17
Take the ramp toward Middletown
Turn left onto NY-300 (heading south)
Turn right onto NY-207
Train station at junction of NY-207 and NY-416
Parking free on weekends

Hil-Mar Lodge:

From the Thruway, exit onto NY-17 (exit 16)
Take exit 130
Turn right onto NY 208
Turn right onto Clove Rd.
Look for parking area on right, just before the lodge

Goose Pond Mountain State Park:

From the Thruway, exit onto NY-17 (exit 16)
Take NY-17 west to exit 127
Follow Lehigh Ave to NY-17M
Make a quick left onto CR-13 from NY-17M
Turn left onto CR-45 after passing under NY-17
Parking is just past junction with Spruce Hill Ct.
