This workshop is being held by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and the Kaaterskill Rail Trail Committee.

This one-day, outdoor training session covers an introduction to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, the Kaaterskill Rail Trail and provides the skills necessary to maintain a hiking trail so it is easily passable and harmonious with its surroundings.

Through field work, students will learn assessment of trail conditions, clearing, blazing proper use of tools and how to report any trail problems they may come across on their segment of trail. Students will spend the day working on the Kaaterskill Rail Trail, preparing it for its opening in 2013.

Be prepared to spend the day on the Kaaterskill Rail Trail.   Wear your hiking boots; pack plenty of water; bring work gloves; and bring a bag lunch.
