Orientation hike on the Bear Mountain Trails Project

An on-site tour of the Bear Mountain Trails Project and walk-through of the new Appalachian Trail route on the mountain, with detailed explanations of the techniques and methods used in building the trail thus far. This workshop offers a great introduction to traditional stonework as it applies to technical trail construction. Volunteer and training opportunities for the upcoming season will also be covered.

This course as well as Tool Use and Safety, one other Bear Mountain Trail U course of your choosing, and a commitment to volunteering 2 days a month are REQUIRED to join the Bear Mountain Trails Project Crew.

This orientation is mandatory for all following Bear Mountain Trails Project courses.
