Trail Conference volunteers rerouted and reopened this magical loop around beaver dam flooding. 5.2-miles: secluded lake, wetlands, large iron mine, stone ruins. Rolling hills, woods roads and single-track trails. After the loop is complete, there will be an option to add on, for anyone seeking additional mileage.
Park: Harriman State Park
Route: Loop, rolling hills
Length: 5.2-miles. Additional scenic loop option available for those wishing to add on.
Directions: Take N.J. Rt 17 N to the NY State Thruway and take the first exit, 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto N.Y. Rt 17 N and continue through the villages of Sloatsburg and Tuxedo. About 2.2 miles beyond the village of Tuxedo, bear left at a traffic light at the intersection of N.Y. Rt 17A. At the top of the ramp, turn right onto County Rt 106 (Kanawauke Road), crossing over Rt 17 and then going under the NY State Thruway. Continue for about 2.2 miles to the first parking area on the right side of the road. The parking area, which is past Lake Stahahe (visible through trees to the left), is just beyond a sharp curve in the road.
