Introduction to Trail Building Workshop

Registration is closed for this event
Ever wonder how the trails you use and love are built and maintained? Take this workshop to find out! Get a behind-the-scenes, hands-on experience and learn the basics of trail building!

Be a trail builder for a day and see what it takes to construct a new trail or maintain an existing trail.

Come help us re-route the steep State Late Trail, which leads to the Appalachian Trail and picturesque Surprise Lake. We’ll be converting this eroded trail into a new, gentler climbing route so it’s easier to hike and more sustainable.

All tools, materials and training will be provided.  Beginners are welcomed on all trips!

Bring your lunch, plenty of water, and sturdy work shoes - and be prepared to get dirty.  You will be expected to wear a hard hat, gloves, and eye protection (all of which we will provide, but you can bring your own if you have a set).
