Aquatic Invasives Strike Force Crew - Water Chestnut Removal

Water chestnut drastically impedes recreational access, reduces water quality, and impacts freshwater habitat for our native fish and wildlife. Join us in helping to protect and preserve our waters by removing this invasive plant!

Two volunters pulling mile-a-minute in the forest

Join the Trail Conference's Aquatic Invasives Strike Force as we remove water chestnut from Blue Mountain Reservation with the Westchester Parks Foundation. Anyone can participate, but folks should be comfortable getting wet and coming into contact with algae, spiders, insects, crayfish, and various other critters that may be present. Bring plenty of water and snacks or lunch if you plan on staying for the full trip, as well as muscle power! Nutlets can be sharp, so you may wish to bring rubberized or leather work gloves as well. Boats will be provided.

Please register for this event with Westchester Parks Foundation here.

For volunteers under age 18, please submit a Guardian Consent form to [email protected] prior to the volunteer day or bring the paper form the day of. A parent or guardian must be present for the volunteer day.
