First guided hike on the New Fish Hatchery Trail in the Neversink Gorge!

Saturday, August 20, 10am

For many years, the area around the former fish hatchery at Cold Spring Road was closed to hikers, but in 2021 the NYSDEC opened the well-graded trail to the public. No waterfalls, but a delightful 5-mile round-trip journey to the heart of the Gorge.

Follow Eden Brook as it courses down to the Neversink River. Pass remnants of 1917 hatchery ponds and dams where trout were bred for the growing sport of fly-fishing. Further along are visible stone ruins of the 19th century Wickham Saw and Lathe Mills, an important piece of early Sullivan County history.
